| O presente trabalho relata os dados obtidos sôbre a concentração e a quantidade de macronutritntes, N, P, K, Ca, Mg e S no tronco, ramos, fôlhas e frutos do cafeeiro, Coffea arabica, L, variedade mundo novo [(B. Rodr.) Choussy], aos dez anos de idade e crescendo em solo latossólico da Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz", em Piracicaba. São apresentados também os dados obtidos nas mesmas condições, sôbre o pêso de diversas partes (tronco, ramos, fôlhas e frutos) do cafeeiro. |

| Êste trabalho estuda estatísticamente dados sôbre café rebeneficiado por cooperativas de cafeicultores do Estado de São Paulo. Seis cooperativas foram estudadas, com um total de 289 partidas de café. Em cada partida se determinou a média ponderada, do número de defeitos, antes e depois do rebeneficiamento. As raízes quadradas dos dados assim obtidos é que foram analisados. Melhoria estatisticamente significativa do tipo do café foi comprovada em tôdas as cooperativas, com uma única exceção, referente à Cooperativa da Média Sorocabana, onde a diminuição do número de defeitos não atingiu o nível de significância. | O presente trabalho descreve a determinação da capacidade de troca de cátions (CTC) do solo e de argilas, através da troca isotópica com cálcio radioativo, 20Ca45. Foi determinada a CTC de oito amostras de solo e de quatro de argilas, tendo sido feitas 5 pesagens de cada amostra de cada um dos materiais, a fim de se avaliar a precisão do método. O cálculo da CTC foi feito mediante a expressão: X = a1/a2 c - c a1 = atividade específica do cálcio da solução de equilíbrio antes de entrar em contato com o solo. a2 = atividade específica do cálcio da solução de equilíbrio após o contato com o solo. c = número de e.mg de cálcio da solução de equilíbrio e calculado para 100g de solo. X = capacidade de troca de cations em e.mg por 100g de solo. |

| In a C 14 dated pollen diagram from ”Cienaga del Visitador” (ca 6°8’N; 72°47’ W) in the Colombian Eastern Cordillera the zones Ib + Ic + II (including the Allerød and Bølling interstadials) form one fluctuation in the diagram, as the short cold zone Ic is not reflected. An earlier Late-glacial interstadial is recognized and is called Susacá-interstadial. It probably lasted from about 13900 to 13100 B.P., was colder than the Bølling-interstadial, and is probably reflected in pollen diagrams from other parts of the world. The Holocene part of the diagram shows very high Gramineae-percentages, apparently due to a considerable lowering of the ”tree-line”. Therezien, Ingénieur-hydrobiologiste of the Centre Technique Forestier Tropical at Tananarive, Madagascar, the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie received at several occasions freshwater Crustacea from Madagascar. Two previous reports (Holthuis, 1964, 1965) dealt with the crayfishes and the atyid shrimps of these collections. | The palinurid genus Linuparus White, 1847, has been represented by a single recent species, Linuparus trigonus (Von Siebold). The trawl survey of the northern shelf region of the South China Sea at present being carried out by the R.V. "Cape St. Mary" of the Fisheries Research Station, Hong Kong, has produced numerous examples of this species. Amongst old collections of Crustacea at the Fisheries Research Station, a single example of a specimen of Linuparus was found early in 1963, which showed numerous differences from the specimens obtained on the trawl survey. | The Laguna de La Herrera (alt. ca 2550 m) is a lake situated on the western border of the Sabana de Bogotá, near Mosquera (dept. of Cundinamarca, Colombia) (fig. 2). This part of the Sabana has a relatively dry climate (appr. 600—700 mm rainfall), as it lies in the rain-shadow of the hills that border the Sabana on its western edge, and it bears therefore a xerophytic vegetation. The western slopes of the bordering mountains, that fall steeply to warmer valleys, have a much higher rainfall and are almost continuously clouded. | INTRODUCTION As a result of separate investigations on Panulirus japonicus (sens, lat.), the present authors independently came to the conclusion that more than one species was included under that name. The first author (George), when in 1958 studying specimens of the Western Australian spiny lobster which at that time was indicated by the name Panulirus longipes (A. Milne Edwards) (a species considered by many authors to be synonymous with P. japonicus), was dissatisfied with that identification and obtained material of the typical P. longipes from Zanzibar. Comparison with this material showed that the Western Australian spiny lobster represented an unnamed species, which he then described as P. cygnus. | A revision of the Euphorbiaceous genus Meineckia has resulted in the recognition of 19 species, with 7 subspecies and 2 varieties (for a total of 25 distinct taxa). Proposed as new are 5 species and 1 subspecies, while new combinations are necessary for 14 species and 6 subspecific taxa. The extraordinary confusion in the taxonomic history of the genus is illustrated by the fact that the 14 previously recognized species have been classified under 6 different generic names: Cluytiandra, Flueggea, Neopeltandra, Peltandra, Phyllanthus, and Securinega. | This paper discusses acquisitions to the adventitious flora of the Netherlands, mainly found in the year 1964. 1. Erucastrum nasturtiifolium (Poir.) O. E. Schulz was most likely introduced with blocks of granite for the “Delta-works”, near Hellevoetsluis, prov. of South Holland. It is indigenous in parts of Southern and Central Europe. Differences between this species and the native E. gallicum (Willd.) O. E. Schulz are given. 2. Euphorbia dentata Michx., a native of the Central United States and Mexico, was found along a highway near Bodegraven, prov. of South Holland. | Com a finalidade de determinar a marcha da absorção dos nutrientes essenciais pela cultura do arroz (Oryza sativa L.). conduziu-se um ensaio em casa de vegetação, em vasos de Mitscherlich. Cada 10 dias, colhiam-se plantas, para análise de N, P, K, Ca e Mg. Verificou-se que, para a produção de 4.300 kg de grãos em casca e 39.350 kg de palha e raízes por hectare, seriam absorvidos 115 kg de N, 18,5 kg de P, 142 kg de K, 35 kg de Ca e 36 kg de Mg. O nitrogênio e o potássio foram, na totalidade, absorvidos até 110 dias da germinação. O fósforo, o cálcio e o magnésio foram requeridos igualmente pela cultura, em todo o ciclo. |

| In 1962 a rabbit eradication campaign was carried out in the Mallee Region of Victoria. After the campaign was completed, a sociological survey was done to assess the farmers' reaction to it. The survey showed that new techniques were rapidly adopted by the farmers concerned. This was due to the intensity of personal contact during the campaign, and to the use of research results as the basis for the recommendations. While research results convinced some farmers to adopt the recommendations, legal, social and situational pressures were important for others.
